How Long Does Music Distribution Take?

How long it takes for your music to go live on Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay and YouTube, and how to plan a fast release without missing playlist pitching.

Last updated October 2026 · By the Interfine Music team

Most releases go live on major stores within a few days of being approved, but some stores take longer. To be safe, submit your release 2–3 weeks before your release date. That leaves time for review, delivery to every store, and pitching to Spotify editors, who need your song at least 7 days before release.

Recommended timeline

  • 3 weeks before: submit your release to Interfine.
  • 2 weeks before: check your release is approved; claim Spotify for Artists and pitch your song.
  • At least 7 days before: the latest point for your Spotify pitch to count for Release Radar.
  • Release day: share your links everywhere.
  • Support: WhatsApp +254 791 393 533, email and tickets.

What happens after you submit

  1. Review. Our team checks your audio, artwork and metadata so stores don’t reject the release.
  2. Delivery. The approved release is sent to each store you selected.
  3. Store processing. Each store ingests and checks the release on its own schedule.
  4. Live. The release appears on the release date you chose.

Review time: our team reviews every release within 72 hours to a week. Submit 2–3 weeks before your release date so there is time for review, delivery and playlist pitching.

Why some stores are slower

Store processing times differ. Large services usually process releases quickly, while some regional services process in batches. Releases can also be delayed if a store flags something, such as artwork with text or logos that break its rules, or a mismatch between the artist name and an existing profile.

How to release fast without problems

  • Use a WAV master and 3000×3000 px artwork with no URLs, prices or store logos.
  • Make sure your artist name is spelled the same on every release.
  • Credit every songwriter and producer correctly.
  • Mark explicit lyrics as explicit.
  • Avoid using other artists’ names in your track titles unless they are credited features.
  • Follow our full music release checklist.

Can I release music in 24 or 48 hours?

You can choose a release date very close to your submission date, but you lose time for playlist pitching and risk some stores going live later than others. A last-minute release can work for a surprise drop, but most artists get better results with 2–3 weeks of lead time.
